allot of people want to become poker pros

Scott Matusow here, writing on behalf of my brother Mike.
Mike and I have talked about this allot, that is;

all the people who want to turn "poker pro" who write Mike.

Mike wanted me to comment on this stuff, and asked me to do so;

Look guys, unless you are financially stable, DO NOT BECOME A POKER PRO!!

Mike is a "poker star", there is a difference between the 2.

But let us review;

1. holdem is only 1 GAME of poker.
to have any chance of being " a pro"
LEARN ALL THE GAMES!!"

2.
there is thousands of good holdem players, everyone thinks they are the next "great thing"

can you control the deck being so "great"
where u put in your money good, and your opponents keep out drawing you?

can you sustain a bad run like that?
can you financially afford to lose money?

so you want to be a pro?

Most of you mean " I WANT TO BE A STAR" think its glamourous?

I am really concerned, seeing allot of college kids who desire to quit school and become " a pro"

really? is that logical?

poker is gambling, no matter how you slice it.
You can make all the right decisions, and not win a hand for months because of statiscal variance!!

a college education is a sure thing, you excel in school, you can get a great job, career agreed?

so why not FIRST GET THAT GREAT JOB, DO WELL IN SCHOOL, THEN, and only then, GO TRY YOUR HAND ( NO PUN INTENDED) AT POKER?

in a real live game, u need to learn to read people, empathy, physcology.

Now;

which of you are ready to lose money, that can afford to lose money, and really want to be a top notch player?

Mike is too busy to be a personal poker coach. Please guys, stop asking him, eventaully we might have a contest and pick one person. Now, Mike has way too many commitments and endorsement obligations
to do this.

I talk about it on my live show, and I coach, but the commitment needed, and I dont mean financially in as much as i mean " to work your ass off" is staggering.

I coach players who already know the game, the deeper reads, pyscology. empathy, information gathering from tells, opponents voice inflection, finding the right tables, avoiding the wrong tables, which will equate to those commited, a profit over the long haul. I dont teach or cater to pipe dreams, but hard work and commitment to being top notch. And without the ability to read players properly, variance will have a greater effect.

Mike became a "poker star" because Mike paid his dues for years, before Chris "Moneymaker" came around and put it into many of your heads " hey I can do this, its easy"

Mike grinded out profits in the big omaha hi low game in the 90's when none of you even knew about poker, but for 3 am on espn as a "filler" between monster trucks and train pulling freaks!!

its really really hard to be a winning player!!

WINNING players grind out profits, while GAMBLERS like Tom Dwan GO UP and down from nothing to 30 million back down to nothing!!

So you want to really quit school and do this?

I have a show tonight, you think your the next great thing?
come stop in my show and tell me why that is!!

Ive seen Mike. among others, win and lose millions..

But you guys wanting to quit school for this I say;

GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES AND WAKE UP!!

what you see on tv DOES NOT REPRESENT THE REAL POKER WORLD!!
